We had a very busy weekend! Our Jacobite Festival, Public Consultation , and Shops and Houses project launch all took place from the 21st to 23rd of August, we had lots to organise and lots to do and see. A big thank you to everyone who was involved; from the volunteers to the reenactors and the general public too, we couldn’t have done it without your contributions. Thank you to the National Lottery Heritage fund and the SSE the Griffin and Calliachar Community Fund, and Museum Galleries Scotland for the funding to take part in these activities. After this busy weekend we were straight back to work in the archive, Monday memories joined us for a session and caught up on our weekend’s activities. They were organising photographs from the school into year order this week to help assemble albums for public use.
On Wednesday night, our archaeology and history club joined us for a session, they are still in the process of cleaning finds from our St Jerome’s excavation but will begin cataloguing the finds in the coming weeks. There were lots of members at this session, the more the merrier and the quicker the finds are processed to be written up in the excavation report.
Our Young Archaeologists’ Club joined us on Thursday afternoon, we were designing recruitment posters for the new year to attract new members. If you are interested in joining our club please get in touch via manager@historicdunkeld.org.uk
We do not have a stall at the Birnam Games this year, but we do have an online exhibition about the history of the Birnam Highland Games. We wish everyone the best of luck at the games this year!
