Our event weekend is finally here! We have our Jacobite Festival, Public Consultation, and Shops and Houses Exhibition. We have lots to see and are looking forward to seeing you all!
Our Jacobite festival has started with Guided battlefield tours led by the Sir Arthur Erskine Regiment. These are taking place at 11am and 2pm throughout the weekend and cost £10, under 16s go free. Tomorrow the Erskine Regiment will be in their reenactment camp and will be taking part in various activities throughout the day.
This evening in the rooms above the Perth Arms Hotel there will be a talk on the Battle of Killiecrankie. Tickets are available online and a limited number may be available on the door. Tickets are £10, archaeology and history club members go half price.
Our National Heritage lottery funded Shops and Houses project has also launched this weekend. Come visit our gazebo in Stanley Hill park to see what we learned through our research on these properties. The video below shows the properties which we researched.
Our public consultation event will be taking place in the archive on Saturday evening from 5pm to 8pm. All are welcome to join. Please come and comment on the future of the archive – what we will be doing, who we would like to work with, and what we hope to be doing with our building. There will be free refreshments and music by Plaidsong.
We wouldn’t have been able to put this all together without our amazing volunteers. We have had all hands-on deck preparing for the festival, the exhibition, and our public consultation event. A big thank you to everyone who was involved in making all of this happen, we couldn’t have done it without your hard work!
Rose has been volunteering with us this week as she takes part in some work experience before beginning her final year at high school. Rose has taken part in lots of exhibition prep work as well as helping to prepare our Public Consultation materials for display. She has also created a beautiful Jacobite dirk and targe to use as an example for out craft stand which will be running on Saturday and Sunday.
