We are also participating in the Niel Gow festival, we have an exhibition about Niel Gow and will be open on the 20th and 21st of March from 10-3pm for anyone interested in visiting. For more information about the festival and what they have planned you can visit their website.

We had our usual clubs this week beginning with Monday Memories who had a visit with the best selling author and Asheville writer in residence Elizabeth Kostova.  This was a lovely change for the group and Elizabeth had a great time learning local stories from the group.

Our Young Archaeologists’ club were learning about viking oval brooches this week and making their own replica versions. This activity was a great success and the group are proudly showing off the 9th century bling they created (They’re also included a new interpretation of how they may have been styled)…

Our Friday talks continue this evening (13th) in the Perth Arms with Dr Kate Britton coming to discuss Paeleoarchaeology and archaeological science. This talk is very nearly sold out so grab any final tickets now to avoid disappointment. Book tickets here.

Our volunteers are still hard at work on all of our projects, there has been lots of digitising taking place this week and we are now around 50% complete on the large collection of church records we had been digitising. So far there have been over 6000 images created, what an achievement!

We are also working on our museum accreditation, Imogen has been creating lots of updated policies and ensuring we meet the Spectrum Standards required of us.
