We begin at the end of last week, Santa day took place on the 6th of December and was a fantastic community day which was brilliantly attended (despite the inclement weather). We were sharing a stall with the lovely Birnam Book festival.

Our stall had several fun activities and exclusive items for sale. We had a raffle which was won by Wattie, here he is photographed with his prize.

We started this week with a Christmas party for our Monday memories group! This was our last session before our Christmas break, Monday memories will return on the 5th of January 2026.

Storm Bram kept things fairly quiet in Dunkeld this week. Heavy wind and rain kept most visitors away but there was a few very determined individuals who stopped in to visit. Our bottle exhibition collected and designed by Jamie Kunka is still on display but will be removed at the beginning of next when we install our new exhibition. Don’t miss your opportunity to see this fantastic exhibition in the flesh.

Thursday was our volunteer christmas party, it was a lovely opportunity for those who could make it to meet in the archive and have a lovely festive catch up . Many of our volunteers come in on a set day which suits them so it was lovely to get the larger group together so that they could all have a good chat!

It has been a  very social week for us! Friday night is our Archaeology and History Club members gathering for the festive period. This event is open to members only, membership can be purchased from the Dunkeld Community Archive or via our website. Come along to hear sppoky festive stories from Lindsey Gibb and have a good ol’ catch up with your fellow members.

We are preparing for a visit from our fabulous development officer Liz next week, she is coming to visit us to help plan our upcoming projects for 2026. We are beginning 2026 with a public consultation on the 14th of January at 7pm in the Duchess Anne Hall, all are welcome. Come along to hear about our plans and share your ideas for what you’d like to see in a new museum and heritage centre in Dunkeld.

Are you a local resident or buisness? Are you interested in investigating the history of your house or building? Register your interest in our new local history project for 2026 in which we will be researching 6 local homes and 6 local buisnesses to find out about who or what used to be there!
