Full steam ahead this week! Our in person public consultation, Jacobite Festival, and Shops and Houses exhibition are all happening next week starting on the 21st of August. Our Jacobite weekend will take place from the 21st to 23rd of August in Stanley Hill Park (check out our what’s on page for more details). Our Public consultation event will be taking place on Saturday evening from 5pm to 8pm within the Dunkeld Community Archive building, come along to share your thoughts and ideas and find out what our plans for the future entail. There will be wine, nibbles and music from Plaidsong. Can’t make the evening event? Pop along to the Jacobite festival, we will have a display about our development plans available to view and comment on. Our “Shops and Houses” exhibition which is part of our National Heritage Lottery Funded Project will be on display from Friday the 21st of August, come along and learn about the history of 6 homes and 6 businesses within the Dunkeld and Birnam area.
There has been lots of activity in the archive this week, our Monday Memories Group decided they wanted to try some archival activities this week. We had a collection of late 18th to 19th Century Documents which needed to be transferred into acid free plastic pockets. The group undertook the task with gusto and had it finished within the session time, they even organised the documents into date order.
Our Archaeology and History Club members popped into the Archive to do some more finds washing from our St Jerome’s excavation. There is lots still to process after the washing has been completed so we look forward to updating you on the next stage of the work.
Some of our other volunteers have been hard at work helping us to compile our shops and houses project, this has been an excellent opportunity for them to develop their researching skills. We look forward to sharing all their hardwork with you!
