We held our first Living History event of 2026 last weekend. The Sir Arthur Erskine Regiment joined us in Stanley Hill Park for a weekend of 17th Century Soldier reenactment. This included everything from a reenactment camp to guided tours of the village. Have a look at our instagram reel to see what the event looked like…
Monday Memories were looking through some more recent material this week by having a look through our newspaper clipping albums from 1992 onwards. They also discussed the history of Jeremy law’s which used to be a cinema as part of our National Lottery Heritage Fund “Shops and Houses” project.
Our Young Archaeologists’ Club were learning about medieval medicine on Thursday, this included a game where the kids played as patients and Doctors and would have to guess the ailment from the patient’s acting. After this the kids found out what the historical “cures” would have been! There was some weird and wonderful things like snails on burns and a dead mouse rubbed on a wart to remove it. Our next sessions are on the 21st May , 4th June , and 18th June. We will then take a break for the summer holidays and be back in August. Get in touch if you have a child aged 8-16 who would like to get involved – manager@historicdunkeld.org.uk .
