Have a read below to find out what the bones were for…

The easter holidays are over now but tourist season has begun! This week marks the start of our guided tours and summer events. The first of the seasonal events is the School Reunion which will be held on Saturday the 25th of April from 2-4pm in the Guide Hall at Little Dunkeld.

We have been very busy with clubs and event prep work this week, Monday memories started us off with the final photograph look over before the school reunion on Saturday.

Our Young Archaeologists’ club had a session all about bones! This taught them a bit about Osteoarchaeology and Zooarchaeology, the archive table was transformed into a very jumbled pile of bones and the kids set about putting the people and creatures back together.

One of the human skeletons was incomplete and had broken bones to show the differences you may find during excavations.

We have two events next week, our archaeology and history club skills session with Dr Lucy Dean on Palaeography on Thursday the 30th at 7:30pm in the Rooms above the Perth Arms.

Next weekend we have our first 2026 Living History event! Sir Arthur Erskine’s Regiment are joining us in Stanley Hill park for a 17th Century Soldier reenactment weekend from the 2nd to 3rd of May. There will be a free reenactment event in the Park. There will be guided tours of the village on Friday 1st, Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of May (Tickets cost £10, £5 for Historic Dunkeld members and free for under 16s). There is also a talk on James Graham Marquess of Montrose on Saturday evening at 7:30pm in the rooms above the Perth Arms, tickets are £10 or £5 for members.

More information about our summer events can be found on our “what’s on page”. All tickets are available via eventbrite.
