Last Friday we had our “Conversation with…Paul Maclennan” who visitied our Archaeology and History Club to tell them about the Murthly Archives and some interesting snippets of information from them. This talk went fantastically and was super interesting. As you can see it was also very well attended, we recommend prebooking your ticket if you would like to attend future events as tickets are limited.
If you are interested in becoming a member, please fill out one of our membership forms.
Our next workshop is on the 30th of October with James Jarvis and our next talk is with Irene Hallyburton on the 14th of November.

Saturday night was the 1970s Royal School of Dunkeld reunion. A lovely evening full of conversation and reminiscing about school days was had by all. Keep your eyes peeled for future school reunion events…

Monday memories started the working week with us, we were having a look through some newspaper scrapbooks and group photographs. If you are interested in joining our club, please get in touch.
We have had lots of research requests this week, it is always interesting to explore the collection and learn new things about the area or new information about the Scottish Horse Regiment. Whilst looking for research information we happened upon a copy of the Memoirs of Henry Guthry, late Bishop of Dunkeld published in 1748. This copy had one of the previous owner’s names repeated all across the back pages. Perhaps he was practising his calligraphy? What a lovely surprise find!
