We held our ‘Young Archaeologist Club Show & Tell’ evening where parents and grandparents came to see the photos and finds from the kids training excavation.  It was lovely to hear feedback from both kids and parents on how much they enjoyed the experience, especially being given the opportuntiy to be treated like ‘grown ups’ and have the chance (and be trusted) to try every part of the process of excavation.

We are very proud of the kids for how well they did, and how hard they worked!

We will now proceed with the important ‘post-excavation’ work and have all the finds looked at by experts, with the report being published later on this year.

Here’s one of our exciting finds …. a fabulous sherd of medieval pottery.

Young Steven (our fabulous animator – studiopuddock) popped in for a chat today, so I took the opportunity to take a photo with his latest amazing contribution to the Archive shop.  ‘Animated’ versions of the Dunkeld and Birnam Heritage Trails (now available to purchase in the Archive).

The animated maps were produced thanks to funding from Perth & Kinross Heritage Trust, The Jimmie Cairncross Trust, and The Thomson Trust.

The ‘Manager’ becomes the ‘Apprentice’ !!

Today, our Manager Ruth, started her Museum Galleries Scotland Modern Apprenticeship in Museum Management.  An exciting and valuable course which will fill skills gaps and help prepare her for our redevelopment plans ahead.
