Barbie played an important role at the dig this week !

The “Dunkeld Diggers” Young Archaeologist’s training dig came to end last week.  A huge thank you to Bob Carchrie (our resident Archaeologist) for making this wonderful opportunity possible for our club.  Also, thanks to the University of Highlands & Islands Archaeology students, our adult volunteers, and the landowner for helping.

AND, a huge WELL DONE to the Dunkeld Diggers themselves !!  The kids were amazing, and we’re very proud of what they achieved.  We worried at the start that they would become bored or tired, but they blew us away with thier engagement and stamina.

We plan to have an “Show & Tell” event at the Archive on Thursday 19th June where the kids will talk about their experience and show everyone what they found.  Please come along to the Archive (12 The Cross, Dunkeld) between 4pm and 5.30pm) to have a look.

Low water reveals interesting stone ....

This stone appeared due to the low water level.  Is it a relic from an earlier bridge ?  Or, something to do with the current bridges building work ?

Let us know your thoughts.

New exhibition coming soon ....

We had a giggle when we saw the historic graffiti on one of the artefacts going into our upcoming INDUSTRY EXHIBITION.  I wonder who did it !?
