Our 17th century soldier guided tours continued this week, next Thursday is your  last chance to take part so don’t miss out! The lovely photo above shows  some of our attendees from Thursday’s tour.

Our next event theme will be the Jacobite era! Join us in Stanley hill park on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of August with the Sir Arthur Erskine regiment as part of the Jacobite Scotland festival.

We have recieved some lovely accessions this week including 24 log books from the local fireservice dating from 1944 onwards, we look forward to having a read and finding out about the activities of the service back in the day.

In true Scottish summer style, the weather has been very changeable this week.  Here in the archive we record the temperature and humidity every day to make sure that the environmental conditions remain favourable for the collection.  It is important in this humid weather that we maintain an appropriate environment for the collection so that it remains safe for future generations.

Don’t forget that we will be launching an adults Archaeology and History society in September for ages 16+ so please have a look at our clubs page to find out more and sign up!
